RITC fundraiser raises £500 for local charity

The Rothley Ivanhoe Tennis Club Race Night on 25th February 2017 was a fund raiser for the club and also for the local charity supporting William and Arthur Warner.

The club raised £500 towards this local family's charity for the surgery the boys need.

William and Arthur are shown here with Mum, Gaynor and Dad, Simon on their way to visit the Davis Cup when the tennis club hosted it in October 2016.

As landlord of the Woodies, Simon knows many of the club members rather well!

Rothley Coaches attend #TennisForKids training course, meeting Leon Smith of Team GB

On 23rd February, coaches Tim Stanton and Harry Lester attended the #TennisForKids training course.

The initiative behind the course is to get 20,000 kids, brand new to tennis, on a 6 week, free tennis course, this summer.

  • A free 6 week course, delivered by a specially trained qualified LTA Coach
  • A free racket for your child to keep forever!
  • An opportunity for parents to get involved
  • Discounts and incentives to keep your child playing after the course completes

The event was well attended from coaches across the country, including Davis Cup Captain Leon Smith.

As the no.1 club in Leicestershire we're proud to participate in these events to get as many kids playing tennis as possible!

This evening Rothley Ivanhoe Tennis Club were announced as winners of the Tennis Club of the Year for Leicestershire.

This recognises the quality of the facilities, the playing programmes, coaching and all the great people that for many years have made this a fantastic club. This includes the committee of course (who work really hard) but also those who help out with the junior teams, run teams in the senior leagues, act as key contacts for club sessions and many other roles that make the club what it is.

The club now goes forward to be considered for regional club of the year.

We will first get the chance to celebrate the success at the Race Night (are YOU coming?) and then get to sign up to be a member of this amazing club at the Open Day on 18th March and to get involved in all we have planned for the summer. Membership details for the year and information on our plans will be hitting your doormat in the next 10 days. Look out for this and get signed up for another fantastic year.

We also collected certificates for success for the Ladies 3rd team and the Mens Aegon Team. Anne Mumford, Tim Stanton and the Ladies 3rd team were nominees for awards.
